HACKTIVIST ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM AND SINGLE, BECOME FIRST BAND TO SIGN TO UNFD WORLDWIDE

Trailblazing UK 5-piece HACKTIVIST have confirmed that they will be releasing their highly-anticipated debut album Outside The Box on March 4 worldwide via UNFD – the very first global signing for the Australian label.

HACKTIVIST have been fighting their way from Milton Keynes to the mainstage since 2011 and now it’s time for the world to listen up. Outside The Box is a 12 track barrage of low-tuned riffs, street-smart rhymes with huge hooks and grooves, resulting in a powerful record with a sound that is 100% their own. Guest performances are present from Rou Reynolds (Enter Shikari), Jamie Graham, Astroid Boys and cyber rhymer Jot Maxi; a highly diverse collection of artists only HACKTIVIST could bring together.

The band have also revealed a video for new track ‘Buszy’, which was premiered last night on the Radio One Rock Show. Check out the video for ‘Buszy’

Of the meaning behind the single, co-vocalist Ben Marvin explains:

“This song is about partying, tour life and dedication to our H team – living the life we want and not letting anything get in our way. Buszy In Milton Keynes is a place we’ve all grown up with. They used to put club nights on there and there’s also a skatepark. It also was used for community projects, but unfortunately it is being shut down by the council in another example of profit over people. We did the best we could to keep it going but our voices were unheard. We decided to name our song after it and get a video shoot booked in before it got shut down, so I want people to take away from it the fact that no matter what, you gotta do what you love and you gotta fight for what you believe in. No matter what or who is against you.”

Like antibodies that fight disease, Outside The Box is an immediate and fierce response to the worldHacktivist inhabit. It’s a conscious call to arms and the product of a unique bunch of mates that could only ever have been conceived in the neglected corners of one of the UK’s most misunderstood towns in 2016 by one of the most exciting bands around. It’s no understatement to say Outside The Box has been a long time coming – it comprises over five years’ worth of ideas that have been bubbling while the band crossed milestone after milestone, fuelled by the success of their incendiary self-titled 2013 EP.

On the back of the DIY release, Hacktivist ventured down to Australia for the first time and obliterated stages across the country as part of Soundwave 2014. Soon after the djent/hip-hop hybrid found a home on Triple J’s short.fast.loud and The Racket. At home in the UK, the support was even stronger from all sides of the media – Kerrang!, Rock Sound, Metal Hammer and BBC Radio 1 all amplified the message, and word soon spread to the likes of The Guardian, XFM and legendary hip-hop publication Insomniac. Their relentless touring landed them mainstage appearances at Reading, Leeds and Sonisphere festivals in the UK, as well as Rock Am Ring & Rock Im Park in Germany.

This is a movement that respects no borders.

Hacktivist is: J Hurley (vocals), Ben Marvin (vocals), Timfy James (guitar/electronics/vocals), Josh Gurner (bass), Rich Hawking (drums).
