Interview – Battlehounds + Song Stream

Stream ‘Night Crawl’ below.

Who are you and what are you doing here? (what is your name, what is the band and what is your role in the band?)

I just wanted a glass of water and suddenly I’m being forced to answer all these questions.

I’m Alex, singer/guitarist in Adelaide band Battlehounds.

How did the band start?

We started jamming in a sharehouse that we all drifted in and out of a few years ago. We were all at uni and had been playing in bands for a while but wanted to do something a bit heavier.

How would you describe your band?

Gritty, grimy, dark rock and roll.

If you had to choose one song you’ve written that best defines your band which one would it be?

Night Crawl, our latest single.

In this day and age where anyone is pretty much able to pick up an instrument, what would you say sets your band apart from the rest?

Our bass player is 6 foot 7, has close to zero athletic talent but can play almost anything you put in his hands. He’s the glue that holds us together.

Where are people able to hear your songs?

Spotify, iTunes and if they wish to pay for it

Are you playing any shows anytime soon (if you live outside of Australia, do you have any plans for a trip down under)?

We’re doing an East Coast tour for our debut EP Damn Demons.

May 4th | Frankie’s, SYDNEY (with The Tommyhawks)
May 5th | Rad Bar, WOLLONGONG (with The Cherry Dolls)
May 11th | The Brunswick, MELBOURNE (with Lorikeet and guests)
May 13th | Exeter Beer Garden (arvo show), ADELAIDE (with Young Offenders)

What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as a band?

Probably the first time we had people come to one of our shows interstate that we didn’t know at all and were there to see us play.

Tell us 3 bands that we should be listening to/be keeping an eye out for?

The Peep Tempel – they’re the best band in the country.

West Thebarton Brothel Party – they’re kicking arse and they’re bloody nice guys.

Siamese – New band from Adelaide who I think are going to explode very soon.

Anything Else you’d like to add?

Red Powerade over blue Powerade.
