Who are you and what are you doing here?
I’m Mark Harding, I’m riding my bike and stopping to pat every cat I see.
When did you know you wanted to pursue music as a career?
About 6 months into learning guitar I decided to start learning as many singalong songs as I could. Seeing the way a song can move someone was a turning point for me.
How would you describe your music?
Like a cold glass of water, refreshing and consistent.
If you had to choose one song you’ve written that best defines your sound which one would it be?
‘Say It Too’ is a good mid-point sonically for most of the songs I write.
In this day and age where anyone is pretty much able to pick up an instrument, what would you say sets you apart from the rest?
I try not to think about sticking out or being unique too much. I focus on creating the most ‘Mark’ thing I can. Because I record everything myself it always comes out with a uniquely ‘Mark’ flavour.
Where are people able to hear your songs?
Everywhere you can dream of- Spotify, iTunes, Soundcloud, Unearthed, Youtube, the list goes on.
Are you playing any shows anytime soon?
None locked in at the moment but I’m going to do a big launch for my EP around March next year.
What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as a musician?
Opening for Little May to a packed crowd in Hamburg, Germany was a personal highlight.
Tell us 3 bands that we should be listening to/be keeping an eye out for?
Zefereli – great new album all recorded on what looks like the greatest farm on earth.
Ainsley Farrell – infectious voice and great songwriter.
Guy Burns – immaculate electronic music.
Anything Else you’d like to add?
Do you have a boring old wall you want a mural painted on? Aside from music I’m looking to paint more giant Australian birds on walls.
