Who are you and what are you doing here? (what is your name, what is the band and what is your role in the band?)

My names oscar, I’m the producer & front man for Opiuo & The Opiuo Band.

How did the band start?

I’ve been producing electronic music as Opiuo for 10 or so years, but grew up playing in bands. My love for a live instrumental show has always been around & when I had the chance to turn my solo show into a full band I jumped at it. We’ve been touring the world for the last year since.

How would you describe your band?

Funkadelic bass heavy electro soul.

If you had to choose one song you’ve written that best defines your band which one would it be?

Opiuo – Kurdilly Boof

In this day and age where anyone is pretty much able to pick up an instrument, what would you say sets your band apart from the rest?

The power of electronic music with the organic beauty of extremely tight live instrumentation.

Where are people able to hear your songs?

Opiuo.com or Soundcloud.com/Opiuo

Are you playing any shows anytime soon (if you live outside of Australia, do you have any plans for a trip down under)?

We live in Melbourne and will be touring North America thru the winter but will be back for Australian summer for sure

What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as a band?

Headlining the main stage at rainbow serpent 2016.

Tell us 3 bands that we should be listening to/be keeping an eye out for?

Snarky Puppy, Lettuce, James Blake.

Anything Else you’d like to add?

My brand new album “Omniversal” has just come out on Slurp Music.
