Interview – Somebody’s Darling

Somebody's Darling

Who are you and what are you doing here? (what is your name, what is the band and what is your role in the band?)
We are a Dallas, Tx roots, rock band called Somebody’s Darling and we are here cause life is grand. My name is Amber Farris and Im the lead singer and play guitar.

How did you start?

I started playing guitar at age 16 cause my parents took me to see Wynonna Judd at the State Fair of Texas. I was completely smitten by the thought of a front woman dominating the stage. I was like….. I can do that? The final moment was when I saw My Morning Jacket in a very intimate setting and I knew this is what I wanted to do. The passion that exited Jim James voice and body went into mine and I’ve been possessed ever since.

How would you describe yourself as an artist?

I Hope to be more than a technical singer or player. I try in put every bit of myself into our music. Performing is what I truly love about this art. I consider Somebody’s Darling an art installation in every town we play. From the van pulling up to the venue to the van driving away is one big art project.

If you had to choose one song you’ve written to best describe your music which one would it be?

With this last album a song called Vowels Flow. It encompasses each members talent in a positive pop way which is fun. This is suppose to be fun right?

Where are people able to hear your songs?

www.somebodysdarling.com, Spotify, iTunes, soundcloud, and hopefully a town near you!

Are you playing any shows anytime soon?

We have our big CD release August 23, 2014 at Trees in Dallas, Tx.

What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as a singer/songwriter?

The fact that me and guys are still going on strong. This is a business that you have to been in for the long haul. I’m proud to say that I’m still loving this life and I hope to be playing music till the day I die.

If you could have a dream tour with 3 other bands/artists who would they be?

St. Vincent, MMJ, and probably Thao and the Get Down Stay Down.
