Who are you and what are you doing here? (what is your name, what is the band and what is your role in the band?)
Sup! I’m Glen Nicholls and I play guitar in the band Aural Window.
How did the band start?
The band basically started with two people who are passionate about music and shared the same vision, and along the way found like minded people and here we are!
How would you describe your band?
We’re a 5 piece that have a massive passion for all types of music, and it is evident in our music that you can hear all of our different influences. We have been compared bands like: Paramore, Saosin and Tonight Alive.
If you had to choose one song you’ve written that best defines your band which one would it be?
I think the song ‘Candlelight In Georgia’ from our latest EP ‘Candlelight’ is very significant, especially lyrically. It is about overcoming adversity and being strong and showing people what you are made of. You are going to always have those ‘nay-sayers’, but if you believe in something enough, you will fight for it and you will get it!
In this day and age where anyone is pretty much able to pick up an instrument, what would you say sets your band apart from the rest?
What sets us apart is each of backgrounds, we all grew up listening to different styles of music and having different influences, musical heroes when we were younger. I think when you get a group of people together that have something different that each of them can contribute, it’s usually a recipe for something special!
Where are people able to hear your songs?
We have our music in quite a few places! The obvious will be iTunes. Failing that, we have our entire EP ‘Candlelight’ on Spotify, to stream for FREE! Check it out.
Are you playing any shows anytime soon (if you live outside of Australia, do you have any plans for a trip down under)?
We are in the middle of our ‘Sleepless Dreams Tour’ at the moment and have 3 dates left!
Thursday 14th November – (Brisbane) Snitch 18+
Friday 15th November – (Melbourne) The Evelyn (w/ Dance Gavin Dance)
Sunday 29th December – (Sydney) Valve Bar on George AA
What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as a band?
I would have to say apart from our latest EP (‘Candlelight’), which we are all super proud of. For me, it would have to be the biggest show we have played, which was at a PACKED Hi-Fi Bar with Flyleaf(USA). It was an unreal experience and i can’t wait to play more shows like this!
Tell us 3 bands that we should be listening to/be keeping an eye out for?
Our Sydney friends ‘Caulfield’ have their album ‘Vanity’ being released very soon!
Circles with their latest album ‘Infinitas’
and our buddies in Red Beard 😉
