Who are you and what are you doing here? (what is your name, introduce yourself)

My name is Bree De Rome, and I play music

How did you become a performer?

I guess I was just drawn to music from a young age, it always fascinated me but I wanted to be a dancer, but I’m genuinely uncoordinated so when I was about 9 or 10 my dancing teacher at the time suggested that I should go along to the little singing group instead of the dance classes and then the rest is history.

How would you describe your sound?

Nostalgic country with a bit of the ol’ 60’s girl group pop vibe happening.

If you had to choose one song you’ve written that best defines you, which one would it be?

Musically, I feel as though my current single ‘I Expected More’ give the best kind of view into who I am and what I do (music wise) but I can’t really pin point any one particular song that defines me thus far.

In this day and age where anyone is pretty much able to pick up an instrument, what would you say sets you apart from the rest?

This is a question that I ask myself a lot and to be completely honest I haven’t exactly come up with an answer yet.

Where are people able to hear your songs?

They can hear my songs by typing ‘Bree De Rome’ into the search bars of: Triple J Unearthed, Soundcloud, iTunes, Spotify, Facebook, YouTube, etc! OR they could come to one of my gigs!

Are you playing any shows anytime soon?

I am! I’m playing with Galapagos and the Medics at The Zoo in Brisbane on the 6th of December and then a couple of (unannounced) shows down in Victoria, around Melbourne and Geelong, which I am super excited about on the 12th and 14th of December!

What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as an artist?

My EP launch in my home-town was pretty up there. So many of my friends and family came along, as well as just random people who’d heard my songs playing on the radio and Unearthed (which was super cool). It was such an amazing feeling to finally release something that I’ve been working on for so long. I was a year and a half in the making!

Tell us 3 bands that we should be listening to/be keeping an eye out for?

Recently I’ve been revisiting Fleetfoxes, as well as Daughter and at this point I feel as though I should lie in order to maintain some element of cool/street cred but I’ve been shamelessly listening to Justin Bieber’s record Believe.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Nope, that pretty well sums it up I think!
