INTRODUCING: COLOUR DAZED

Who are you and what are you doing here?

Hi ! I’m Adam singer/guitarsist for post punk band Colour Dazed from Melbourne.

How did the band start?

It started of as a home recording project a while ago with my friend Shaun Wilson who I had played in heaps of different bands with over the years. Earlier this year we recruited our good friend Gus Irving on drums to help us flesh out the tunes, and its since transformed into something far more interesting and exciting that we had thought.

How would you describe your band?

Just a few good country blokes that just really love Mac De Marco.

If you had to choose one song you’ve written that best defines your band which one would it be?

I think the first one we jammed on all together ‘Ceres’ Its a subtle but immediate punk rock track which we all meshed together straight away on. I think it really encapsulates the raw energy which we’re all about as individual musicians and a band.

In this day and age where anyone is pretty much able to pick up an instrument, what would you say sets your band apart from the rest?

Its all about having the right chemistry. Anyone can play an instrument and play in a band, but if you don’t have that unique intuitive thing going on its just not gonna work. We’re lucky we do.

Where are people able to hear your songs?

We’ve got our latest single ‘Cascades’ on Facebook and also Triple J unearthed.

Are you playing any shows anytime soon?

We’re playing our single launch show at the Public Bar this Friday (July 17th)
with some of our favourite Melbourne acts I Am The Riot, Lieutenant Jam & Sophie Officer.

What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as a band?

I would have to say the recording of our first single ‘Cascades’. We had a few hurdles to overcome to finally get that one recorded and it came together far better than we could have imagined.

Tell us 3 bands that we should be listening to/be keeping an eye out for?

My good friend Michael’s new band Red Beard who have just signed to Eleventh records. I think they will be doing some really exciting stuff over the next year.

Another really cool Sydney band i’ve been getting into over the last few months ‘High Tails’ They’ve been getting a fair bit of airplay on Triple J lately and remind me a lot of Mercury Rev which i like.
Also Melbourne band I Am The Riot are a awesome live band which we are lucky enough to be playing with at our launch.
