Introducing – The Company We Keep

Who are you and what are you doing here? (what is your name, what is the band and what is your role in the band?)

Brian Southall, The Company We Keep, Song Writer/Programmer/Guitar Player

How did the band start?

TCWK started as a creative outlet/side-project for me towards the end of my previous band, The Receiving End of Sirens.  I wanted a way to release electronic music and involve other friends.  I recorded 3 tracks with different singers for various compilation albums, at the time just for fun.  Eventually I teamed up with Justin Pierre and we started working on making this a full time band.

How would you describe your band?

A guy who cant stop listening to 90’s alternative rock, but hopes to remain relevant to the audience of today, wrote some music and found the most talented people around to play it with him.

If you had to choose one song you’ve written that best defines your band which one would it be?

I think “Miles Away” is a great depiction of this band.

In this day and age where anyone is pretty much able to pick up an instrument, what would you say sets your band apart from the rest?

We do it better, and we actually believe in it.  There’s no gimmick here.  Just normal people making music that they believe in, not trying to mask our inefficiencies with face paint and crazy hair.

Where are people able to hear your songs?

We just released the first track from our debut album here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-96mMdHom4

Other than that, you can find us at facebook.com/thecompanywekeep / wearethecompanywekeep.com or download our music on iTunes.

Are you playing any shows anytime soon (if you live outside of Australia, do you have any plans for a trip down under)?

We would love to make a trip down under, but sadly that is probably not in the cards for us anytime soon!  Hopefully within the next 2 years we will be able to make a trip.  I’ve personally been 3 times, and Australia is on the top of my list for places to visit/play.  Ive always had the most amazing time.

What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as a band?

I think simply being on the verge of this album being released, that will be the greatest achievement for our band.  We had a long road to get to this point, and we’re all so proud of the album we made.
