Introducing: Thousand Young

Who are you and what are you doing here? (what is your name, what is the band and what is your role in the band?)

My name is Corey Hamilton and I play guitar and sing for Thousand Young.

How did the band start?

I moved home from Vancouver a few years back and Paul Costello (Guitar) just started jamming. We had played in bands together before and wanted to do something more aggressive then our previous bands.

How would you describe your band?

I think were something that’s hard to put an exact label on. I just look at it as rock’n’roll but the punk, hardcore, 90’s post hardcore and grunge influences are certainly there. When it comes down to it I think heavy rock’n’roll is the easiest description of it.

If you had to choose one song you’ve written to best describe your band which one would it be?

I think “there is no shore” off of our first record is probably the best song to sum up our sound. It has a lot of dynamics and groove to it.

Where are people able to hear your songs?

Are you playing any shows anytime soon?

We play Thursday July 26th in Toronto at the Smiling Buddha in Toronto and then were going a week long run through Quebec/Ontario at the end of August with many more tour plans to come once we finish up our full length.

What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as a band?

In march 2011 I had an accident at work and cut my left index finger off. In the months following, the future of the band was very questionable, we really had no idea what would happen. After a lot of work and some member changes we got ourselves back on our feet and went out on a two week tour with our friends in Open Hand from California. It was amazing feeling to come back from all of that to feeling better than ever about the band and excited to carry on with our goals.

If you could have a dream tour with 3 other bands/musicians who would they be?

Collectively I would think our answers would be These arms are snakes, Refused and Thrice or Young Widows

Anything Else you’d like to add?

Come out to a show and get ready for our upcoming full length. More news will be announced very soon!
