Introducing – Toy Soldiers

Who are you and what are you doing here? (what is your name, what is the band and what is your role in the band?)

I am Ron Gallo. I don’t know what I’m doing here but maybe it has something to do with Toy Soldiers, worlds first band, that I sing, play guitar and write songs for.

How did the band start?

Our band history is almost identical to the story line of The Breakfast Club with the characters from The Lion King.

How would you describe your band?

We are a vehicle for songs, were all over the place stylistically but we hang out mostly in the rock n roll, blues, soul, Americana world, at the moment.

If you had to choose one song you’ve written that best defines your band which one would it be?

“Tell the Teller” seems to encapsulate our general “vibe” best but every song on the record is totally different so it serves best as a whole.

In this day and age where anyone is pretty much able to pick up an instrument, what would you say sets your band apart from the rest?

It’s not really about setting yourself apart as much as it’s about just being yourself and embracing whatever character that is and if you do that than your not being anyone else and that’s one of a kind.

Where are people able to hear your songs?

On the machine in your pocket, ohnotoysoldiers.com, iTunes, on a vinyl or CD bought at a show, live at a show, general internet, mcdonalds on your iPod.

Are you playing any shows anytime soon (if you live outside of Australia, do you have any plans for a trip down under)?

We’re just beginning a tour that lasts through November all over the continental US. We will come to Australia the moment were wanted and can get there. (This is where you come in!)

What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as a band?

Releasing “The Maybe Boys”, our new record through the help of some amazing kickstarter contributors and still going after all these years.

Tell us 3 bands that we should be listening to/be keeping an eye out for?

The Lawsuits, Ali Wadsworth, Joe Fletcher and The Wrong Reasons, TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Please buy our records and come to shows and share it if you like it because that’s all we have to go on! And also thank you!
