Sydney four-piece Sounds Like Sunset continue to solidify their reputation as one of Australia’s best indie rock outfits. Over the past twelve months the band have released four singles to critical acclaim around the country and now they are set to release their long awaited third album, “We Could Leave Tonight” digitally on August 22 AND physically September 5 (with vinyl pre-sales almost sold out). The band will celebrate the album release with a very special show at Sydney’s Union Hotel on August 23.
Described as a multitude of genres, including Shoegaze; NoiseRock and DreamPop to name a few, the group have continually pushed their own boundaries as a band since their formation and unlike so many bands of today’s quick consumerist culture, who dissipate as quickly as they form, Sounds Like Sunset are prepared for the long journey ahead and continue to evolve each step of the way. The band’s first album “Saturdays” was lauded by critics and met with descriptions such as “If the Beach Boys reformed and were transported through punk and grunge, stopping on their way for a quick collaboration with the Stone Roses and My Bloody Valentine, they might sound like this” and remains a seminal debut.”
However the band truly cemented their mark as indie-rock royalty with their second album “Invisible” – an album that was not only hailed by critics nationally but saw them nominated for the inaugural Australian Music Prize, verifying their songwriting talent and remarkable sound.
With the current climate of cleanly produced radio rock taking dominance in music culture, the three-piece are unashamedly paving a path to a noise-engulfed wall of sound with their third album “We Could Leave Tonight”.
